United to End Genocide United To End Genocide

Dear Supporter,

My name is Mickey Jackson. I’m a rising senior at the Catholic University of America, and I’ve been involved with the anti-genocide movement since my freshman year of high school.

Today I’m writing to ask for your help in building STAND, the student-led division of United to End Genocide.

STAND is the only movement created, led, and managed entirely by students for mass atrocity prevention. From its founding in 2004 by students at Georgetown University, STAND has grown into a nationwide movement with chapters at high schools and colleges around the country.

We’ve set an ambitious agenda this year, and I’m confident we can meet our goals. But we are only as strong as our members and we need your help in recruiting students to join us this fall. If you are a student or know of a student wanting to make a difference, click here and get connected with STAND.

STAND students have accomplished so much over the past few years, including:

Persuading 22 state governments and dozens of universities to divest from companies with irresponsible business practices in Sudan.

Lobbying our congressional representatives in support of key legislative priorities for the anti-genocide movement.

And, perhaps most importantly, training the next generation of foreign policy experts and community organizers through 14 regional conferences, 4 national conferences, and 3 “STAND Camps.”

We will continue to build upon this success in the coming year. But in order to do so, we need your help. If you are currently a high school or college student (or know a student who would be interested), click here to become involved with STAND.

In addition to offering frequent action opportunities, STAND can help you hone your community organizing skills, understanding of human rights policy and have fun in the process. STAND students are creative, imaginative, and self-motivated. No matter what your interest or background, there’s a place for you in our movement.

If you are not a current student, I ask you to consider making a donation to support STAND’s work. Your contribution will enable us to continue developing the next generation of informed, passionate, and forward-thinking foreign policy leaders.

Students have been at the forefront of the anti-genocide movement from the beginning. Whether or not you’re currently a student, you can help us continue this proud legacy.

In solidarity,

Mickey Jackson
